China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. (CMES) plans to obtain control of An Tong Holdings Co., Ltd., marking a strategic move to strengthen shipping operations, enhance capacity coordination and support domestic and international circulation.

On August 12, China Merchants Energy Shipping and An Tong Holdings announced that CMES intends to acquire control of An Tong Holdings.
As of August 12, 2026, Sinotrans Container Lines Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of CMES, had accumulated a 14.94% stake in An Tong Holdings through share transfers, block trades and centralized bidding transactions, becoming the company’s largest single shareholder. Together with other parties controlled by China Merchants Group, CMES now holds 24.84% of An Tong Holdings.
CMES said the move will help integrate both companies’ shipping capacity, logistics networks and customer resources, establish integrated logistics service capabilities and enhance overall competitiveness.
Following the proposed board restructuring, An Tong Holdings appointed Li Jun as President. Li Jun previously held various management positions at Sinotrans Container Lines and CMES, including General Manager of China Merchants Energy Shipping (Singapore) Holdings and Chief Digital Officer of CMES.
