Matson, Inc. has reported strong financial results for the second quarter and first half of 2026, with net income rising significantly year on year.

In the second quarter, Matson generated revenue of approximately USD 970 million, up 16.7% year on year, while net income reached around USD 130 million, an increase of 36.6%. Matson’s ocean transportation business recorded second-quarter revenue of approximately USD 770 million, up 13.6%, with operating income increasing 46.0% to around USD 140 million, mainly driven by higher cargo volumes and freight rates on China services.

During the quarter, Matson transported 102,600 FEU, up 3.7%, including 37,200 FEU on China services, an increase of 15.2% year on year.

Matson Chairman and CEO Matt Cox said demand and freight rates on the company’s China–Long Beach Express (CLX) and China–Long Beach Express (MAX) services exceeded expectations, supported by demand from e-commerce, apparel and electronics sectors.

Matson expects China services to remain fully or nearly fully utilized during the peak season and forecasts full-year 2026 operating income to exceed 2025 levels, supported by stable U.S. consumer demand and transpacific trade conditions.
