Hengli Heavy Industry, a major Chinese private shipbuilder, plans to recruit 100,000 industrial workers in the second half of 2026 to support capacity expansion and growing newbuilding demand.

The company will also provide more than 5,000 positions for college and graduate students, covering fields such as shipbuilding, marine engineering, engine manufacturing and equipment production.

Hengli Heavy Industry’s orderbook has extended to 2030, driven by strong market demand. The company is expanding production capacity and building an integrated industrial cluster covering shipbuilding, offshore engineering and supporting equipment, aiming to become one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive shipbuilding bases.

In July alone, Hengli Heavy Industry secured 46 new ship orders worth more than RMB 30 billion, covering bulk carriers, container ships, tankers and high-end gas carriers.

The company’s newly developed 3,100 TEU container ship and 88,000 m³ Very Large Ammonia Carrier (VLAC) have received orders from international owners including Minerva Marine and Evalend Shipping, demonstrating growing recognition from global shipowners.

Established in 2022, Hengli Heavy Industry has rapidly expanded its shipbuilding business and established cooperation with major shipping companies including Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), CMA CGM and China COSCO Shipping Holdings.

In August 2024, MSC and Hengli Heavy Industry signed a strategic cooperation agreement covering newbuilding, marine engines, ship repair and conversion projects. In June 2026, CMA CGM placed its first order with Hengli Heavy Industry for eight 6,000 TEU container vessels.
