The Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration, Taicang Municipal People’s Government and Taicang Port Administrative Committee have signed a memorandum of cooperation to strengthen Taicang’s role as the eastern gateway of Yangtze River shipping.
Signed on September 2, the agreement aims to leverage Taicang’s strategic position at the intersection of river and sea transportation and support the high-quality development of the city’s port and shipping economy.
The three parties will deepen cooperation under the objectives of turning cargo flows into lasting economic activity, transshipment into value-added business, and transport corridors into logistics hubs, while promoting closer integration between the port, industries and the city.
Taicang is accelerating the development of an internationally competitive modern port and strengthening international logistics corridors.

The Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration and China Classification Society (CCS) Jiangsu Branch said they would continue supporting Taicang in areas including navigation efficiency, vessel safety, specialized industries and green shipping.
The report describes Taicang Port as the largest foreign-trade port on the Yangtze River, highlighting its role in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and Yangtze River Delta integration.
