A new Sanming–Quanzhou international trade sea-rail intermodal corridor has officially commenced operations, extending Quanzhou Port’s inland logistics network.

The first shipment of 18 twenty-foot containers was transported by rail from Sanming to the Shihu Port Area in Quanzhou before connecting with international shipping services.

The corridor was jointly launched by COSCO SHIPPING Ports (CSP) Quanzhou Terminal, Quanzhou and Sanming container transport operators. Export cargo from Sanming can now reach Quanzhou Port directly by rail, reducing reliance on long-distance trucking and lowering overall logistics costs.

Leveraging COSCO SHIPPING’s integrated “port + shipping + logistics” capabilities, the service coordinates rail transportation, terminal handling and ocean shipping.

The new corridor expands Quanzhou Port’s inland hinterland from southern Fujian into central Fujian and southern Jiangxi, strengthening regional supply chain connectivity.
